SAFEO: Washington, D.C., United States; Founded in 1990 by former UDC All-American linebacker J. Laffeyette Carter, SAFEO’s membership consists of student and professional athletes, coaches, professional athletes, officials of athletic organizations, professional and semi-professional sports groups, other community stakeholders. The organization engages student athletes and other young people in critical urban community transformation initiatives that improve the quality of life of the city's disadvantaged.
